Where Do I Start?

The goal of this course is to define what is a consultant and help you perform an assessment of your business, technical, interpersonal, and consulting skills.

  • Understand the Basics

The terms consultant and consulting have morphed over the years to where they are today. But what really is consulting? Or for that matter, a consultant? This course clarifies terms as consultant and consulting, explains the consultant’s ladder, and highlights key characteristics and behaviors of successful consultants.

  • Assess Your Strengths

Successful consultants focus on their passion and strengths but before they focus on that one idea, start by understanding who they are and what they know. This course includes three self-assessments-personal, knowledge and skills, and support structure to help you determine not only if consulting is for you but also helps you start navigating the path to determine your focus.

  • Build a Roadmap for Success.

By understanding who you are and what matters to you, your support structure, as well as your business, technical, interpersonal, and consulting knowledge and skills, you can determine if consulting is for you or not. If it is for you, create a roadmap that leverages your strengths, develops your consulting skills, and positions you to build a successful consulting practice.
